Non-urgent advice: Extended Access Until End March 2024

The practice has increased appointments by over 18,000 a year since the Covid pandemic. We are well and truly aware there’s an increased demand to see the clinician at the practice. There are over 7.4 million patients a awaiting who have already been referred from the GP practice to seen at the hospital, but unable to be seen for many months , some over a year by the hospital .This is stated to be due to the backlog from Covid. Unfortunately these patients have nowhere to Turn and they are returning to the practice to be seen and these are very difficult circumstances, Given the fact they have already been referred to hospital care which they are unable to access . This causes a blockage of normal GP appointments as many of these appointments have been given out to these patients on a daily basis and limits to those pre-booking with oncoming new symptoms. The practice has however taken a stance in providing numerous appointments Across the sites, they start at 7:30 in the morning on some days on the telephone, to face-to-face appointments in evenings and Saturdays.

We have a variety of appointments available during this time, including that of GPs, healthcare assistants , practice, nurses, prescribing pharmacist, etc.

We believe the additional appointments offered now will go along way to alleviate the current situation, nationally experienced by all healthcare centres, including the hospitals and GP practices. Would like to reassure our patients, we are working extremely hard in making this happen. We have introduced newer service such as suspected cancer clinics ( skin / breast / lumps etc) , musculoskeletal, Podiatry & Exclusive Medication related query clinics. We have continued with our in house vaccination of Covid ( we were the 1st in tne ICB to do that in 2021). Inspite of difficulties thrown by other community providers including district nurses ,we have not forgotten our home bound & end of life patients. Please feel free to use the newly installed automated system to book in the slots which are available daily & weekly.

Non-urgent advice: Out of Hours

The practice telephones closes to routine appointments ( though at Extended access it finishes at 8 pm on certain days and the surgery is open to access on those days ). To access the Out Of Hours if you’re unwell , please do not wait until the next day as Care is still continuous and available after 6 pm on weekdays and all weekends and bank holidays. Please call 111 for your need you will be dealt with a clinician in relation to your immediate help needs.

Other Places you could potentially use, depending on the appropriate nature of your health problem, could be the local pharmacy, some of which are open until 10 o’clock at night , the accident and emergency centres and walking centres which are manned by GPs in many places.
